I want to buy a flash for my Canon XTi simliar to the Canon 430EX. Any suggestions?

I can't afford the Canon 430EX but need an separate flash unit. I don't know who makes comparable flashes. Vivitar? Sunpak?

newworldvideodirect.com has the 430EX listed for $210.00 plus shipping.

IMO you should invest in this flash even if you have to wait until you save the money. Although there are some good after-market flash units, the 430EX was designed by Canon for its cameras.

I also suggest investing in an off-camera flash bracket. Check at your local camera store for various brands if Canon doesn't offer one.

I learned long ago that its better to have a feature and not need it than to need it and not have it.
Reply:http://www.calumetphoto.com/Lighting/Str... is a great site. This link takes you straight to Strobe Lightings.
Reply:How about Canon 220EX? But it head can't be moved like 430EX. Another option is to use Sunpak 383 auto flash, but without E-TTL, the exposure won't be as accurate as Canon flashes.
