How can I transfer files from one laptop to another without an external harddrive or flash drive?

I need to grab some files off my old laptop but I don't have a flash drive or a harddrive. I've tried a regular USB cord with no luck so is there any other way? I don't want to have to email the files.

you can connect your old and new computer in the same network and send the files through the network.
Reply:depending on how large the file is you could be able to transfer them by cd if you have a cd burner if not thumbdive is the way to go ,you can get a good 4 gig or so under 60 bucks
Reply:you can use blue tooth for transferring data from one computer to another (computer means Your Laptop)

Reply:You can't use a regular USB cable. That might actually damage your computers. You need a USB crossover cable.
