My girlfriend keeps interrupting me on my pc every few minutes so she can delete from her flash drive because she says a mac will not allow her to completely delete from a flash drive. This seems ridiculous to me? Any thoughts?

Do you mean that even when she deletes the stuff, it still seems as if the space is being used? Make sure you empty the trash can before unplugging the drive. Otherwise you'll eventually end up running out of space, even though it appears that the files are gone.
