I have a Viper keyless entry system in my Chevrolet. I know the white wire is the output for parking light flash, but I'm not sure how to hook this up. Do I just hook the white wire into my parking light wire or do I need to put in a relay? If so, how do I wire the relay? Any input is appreciated. Thanks.
How do I hook up my keyless entry to flash the parking lights?
Hello... I have been doing alarms for 18 years and I use only DEI products (viper). The white wire will connect to the brown wire at the switch. The keyless entry is capable of pulling a 10 amp current on its own without the use of a relay. You did not mention if you are putting this on a car or truck. If it is on a truck (or suv) you may want to put it on a relay. If you pull a trailer and have the lights hooked up, you will flash the lights on the truck and the trailer and it will blow the fuse on the white wire. IT may not blow it the first time, but it will very shortly after a few uses. When you replace the fuse and dont upgrade to a relay, it will damage the brain and you will lose the feature all together. If not towing a trailer, then you will be fine. If for some reason the fuse on the white wire blows, that will be the answer to use a relay. If in doubt, and you dont want to take the dash apart to rewire later, go ahead and add one. Heck... they are only a couple of bucks!! Hope this helped! Good luck and live loud!!!
