I have a 80 GB Seagate external drive and would like to configure/format it as a flash drive for usage. Please suggest any tool/method that helps me perform the same.

Hard drives are different from flash drives.
Flash drives are solid state drives menaing they have mo moving parts. Data transfer rates to and from flash drives because they could move data much faster than reading from a spinning drive.
However of you want to make your hard drive portable like a flash drive, you could buy those hard drive enclosures. They turn a regular hard drive to a portable external drive. They commonly use USB to connect to the PC, some have Firewire.
Reply:I don't seem to get your question, if that's a USB drive (you only said its external, not how it is connected) it is already using the same generic USB storage driver. So what else would you like to achieve ?
