What happens to data on a USB flash drive if I hibernate the laptop before ejecting it?

If I'm using a USB flash drive on a laptop and I don't eject it, but hibernate/sleep the computer, is it okay to remove the flash drive? Will I lose data?

They say to always click the Eject icon in the tray first to make sure nothings floating around in mem and not written to the drive yet, so it's always your best bet. With that said, there have been probably hundreds of times where I forget or for any other reason just popped it out without ejecting first and have never lost data.

You can try first though, just make a copy of everything on it onto your pc, and then do the hibernate thing as a test. Its still a random thing though. It may be safe 99 times but that 100th time ya may lose something.
Reply:nothing
Reply:nothing turn the computer bc on and den eject it properly
Reply:No not at all.

but be preventive next time, you do and eject it properly.
Reply:Sometimes you may lose data if you don't eject the USB properly.
Reply:No you won't. My laptop sometimes runs out of battery and hibernates as well, but the new data in the USB will still be present if you plug it into a different laptop/computer.
